FEMADE 2008 is organized by wood processing machinery producers
The chamber of wood processing machinery (CSMEM) of Brazilian’s machinery producers association (ABIMAQ) represents the producers of capital goods producers from the wood processing sector. It includes all the industrial processes chain (from harvest all the way up to it’s surface treatment technology: Harvest, transportation, sawing, drying, processing into high performance panels (MDF & OSB) and varnishing).
CSMEM was created in order to substitute the National Department of Wood processing Machinery and Equipment (estabilished in 1980). Since 1989, with the migration of the chamber’s headquarters to Curitiba – a traditional wood economy local, with a vast number of enterprises established in it’s outskirts – it counts on 26 member enterprises. The current board: CSMEM organizes along with Hannover Fairs Sulamérica the FEMADE - International Trade fair for the wood processing industry chain, held every two years in Curitiba. In 2008 it celebrates it’s 5th edition. The chamber also takes part at other main national and international events and organizes the exhibition of their associates based upon a partnership with APEX (Brazilian Export Promotion Agency). CSMEM is attending the Intelligent Competitive System program, thru technical cooperation of Tecpar and IPDMAQ and financial support of FINEP’s Project found. CEO Ronald Castro Obrusnik states that the current dynamic, which leades the wood processing process in the world, demands for constant modernization of the technological processes. Brazilian machines are gaining prestige in the international market, as observed in the rising of Brazilian machinery exports (with a growth of 33,75% in 2005 in comparison to 2004). He believes that only thru a US$ valorization the performance can be lifted in both national and international markets. He expressed his sorrows for the nominal turnover loss of 16,3% in 2005, when compared to 2004. |
